Netizens were amazed at the unusual feeding process captured online.

In the video, a man stood beside a shallow swamp. He was tapping an empty plastic bottle with a wooden stick, like a drum, while another man lined the feed near the water. After the man stopped playing, a school of fish came out.

The seemingly empty swamp was suddenly crowded with fish, flipping and swimming towards their food. A fist-sized chunk of feed was gone in minutes!

According to a netizen Dominic Mark Samera, the fish in the video were African catfish.

“African catfish ang mga yan. Ganyan talaga kumain ang isdang yan,” he wrote. “Madali silang palakihin at paramihin. Pangkaraniwan lng ung ganyang laki.”

“Hindi nmn sila nakakasugat [during feeding time]. Talagang ganyan sila kumain sobrang gana,” he added.

From the name itself, this type of fish is found in Africa, but because of aquaculture advancements, they are also bred in Brazil, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, and Middle Eastern countries.
