Cases of mistaken identity seems like a thing in the social media nowadays.
After the controversial word war between President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Leila De Lima that led to the big allegation of Duterte that the senator is having an illicit affair with her driver, De Lima have earned a ton of bashers all calling out on her "immorality" as the President said so.
With the big fuss going on, netizens mistakenly assumed Roldan Castro, a gay showbiz reporter was De Lima's driver and alleged lover after a page posted his photo claiming that he was so.
Castro shared how he suddenly woke up realizing he had gone viral as netizens thought he was Ronnie Dayan, De Lima's driver. He posted on his social media account clearing his name last Friday. His statement read:
"Nawindang ako at napatawa paggising.
Trending daw me...
Castro was a former president of the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC). Although he chose to no longer pay much attention to the netizens and the said page regarding his mistaken identity, this serves as a great warning yet again to everyone on social media, do not believe everything you read and more importantly, research first.
