Sen. Leila De Lima expressed her thoughts on President Rodrigo Duterte on announcing names of the local officials who are part of the illegal drug trade. She said that his style is different and hard to assess yet the public creates the impression of liking it.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer quoted her, "To be honest, it's difficult to pass judgement on the style of the President, especially that a great majority of our people seem to approve of this naming and shaming strategy."

She commend President Duterte "strong will and great determination" to terminate illegal drug trades in the country, she also leaves it all to him on how to carry the strategy he is doing.

"If the President thinks it's an effective strategy, then who are we to dictate on him. His strong will and great determination to end the drug problem deserve high praise and credit."

Nonetheless, she appeals to the administration to immediately file cases against those people whose name was dropped by the President considering that if there is no much evidence to back up his allegations in court, De Lima said that all of his expositions will be only seen as a "witch hunt."

"Having said that, as a student of constitutional law, let me express these thoughts: If there is evidence against these people he has named and shamed, cases should just be files against them so that warrants for their arrest can be issued. If there is no evidence, then this is a plain and simple witch hunt," De Lima said.
