The footbridge made of wood and pipes connecting villages of Mansaya and Loboc allegedly built in the year 2009 by an unnamed congressman have collapsed into the river. The Iloilo mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog noted that the footbridge took a year before it was finished and none only that, it allegedly costed 1 million pesos.
The highly expensive structure that have collapsed appalled the netizens and many hoped that the unnamed congressman be held accountable for what seemed like stolen funds.
However, Mayor Mabilog vowed to build a much more promising bridge for the people of the villages in 2017 since the budget of the city had already been allocated. Temporarily, he ensured them that a sturdy bridge made of bamboo will be made while waiting for the budget for next year.
