Senator Manny Pacquiao pushed for death penalty in his first privilege speech in the Senate.

The 8-time world boxing champion reasoned the reinstatement of death penalty has a moral and biblical basis.

“Death penalty is lawful, moral, and sanctioned government action. Having read the Bible on a regular basis, I am convinced that God is not only just a God of mercy, but also a God of justice,” he said. "When the government punishes, it's not an individual act. That's approved by God. That's what the Bible says.”

“Para po sa akin ay sa ngayon ay nanaig ay hanging or firing squad,” said Pacquiao when Senate Majority leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III interpellated him.

“Sisipain lang po yung upuan,” he quipped.

When Senator Gringo Honasan and Senator Leila de Lima asked him for the legal basis of his claims, Pacquiao posited, “Are we greater than God? Because God allows Death Penalty in Every Nation”

The neophyte senator approved of President Rodrigo Duterte’s anti-drug campaign and agreed that convicted drug lords and pushers be executed.
