The decision of President Rodrigo Duterte to allow the late President Ferdinand Marcos to be buried in the Libingan ng mga Bayani was an act, as he claimed, to unite the people and allow the nation to move on.

However, many stood their ground in opposition to the President's decision, and among those is his running mate during the last election, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.

Cayetano said on an interview with Reporters on Sunday that his views on the issue is different from the President's.

"I see the point ni presidente na kung completely legal issue he's entitled to it."

He said that he opposes it however because of "the name alone of the Libingan ng mga Bayani."

"Pero yung pangalan kasi ng libingan ay Libingan ng Bayani. He had heroic moments during his life but we do not consider in totality heroic because of the things that happened to martial law. Unless palitan natin ang pangalan sa Libingan ng Bayani at Diktador."

"When the debate starts, everyone will have their opportunity to say why they are for and against it, so I'm waiting for that time," the senator said.
