Ever seen a burger falling in slow motion, its ingredients uniformly suspended as they float through the air before coming to land on top of each other with almost supernatural perfection? Well, that’s known as a ‘burger drop’, and you can find them in virtually any burger chain commercial. Most of them are made using CGI because, well, it’s easier, but Miami-born Cuban photographer/director Steve Giralt decided to do things the hard way. Not only did he decide to make one without Computer Generated wizardry – he actually built an entire machine dedicated to executing the perfect burger drop.

The contraption is called the ‘Precision Arduino Timing Relay Imaging Controller,’ but you can call him P.A.T.R.I.C. And as you can see from the video below, while P.A.T.R.I.C took a little time to get things right, the end result couldn’t have been more sublime.
